Seasoned in the art of tax prep for small business

Small Business Superhero, At Your Service

QuickBooks “suggests” things 'cause it’s guessing. I solidly place things in categories that jump out to your tax preparer. A CPA doesn’t have time to go through all the day-to-day and catch things you paid for out of pocket. A CPA will charge you lots of money to look harder at tax time.

As a bookkeeper with real tax accounting experience and I'll give you the benefits of a bookkeeper PLUS additional savings at tax time.

Stressing over every expense and whether or not you're set to get your maximum return from taxes...

Wasn't what you signed up for when you started your business.

Stop Googling It

luckily for you, it is what i signed up for

Watching big corporate accounting firms prioritize the companies driving the big-bucks into the CEOs pockets drove me MAD. I’ve always had a place in my heart for the little guy and just doing the RIGHT thing. No matter how small, you are just as important as everyone else. That’s a promise.

Size *doesn’t* Matter

I have a lot of values and opinions...

No mistake, lack of understanding, or lack of organization around your books is going to make me think different about you. People don’t know this stuff unless they’re TAUGHT. It’s okay to not know everything, I’ll teach you along the way. I’m here to help get your books in order and manage them consistently so you feel more in control of your finances and don’t feel your stomach drop when it’s time to do your taxes.

No Judgment Zone

I’m a no-fluff, no-bullshit kind of girl and I’m going to give it to you straight. There’s zero benefit to beating around the bush or sugar coating things when it comes to finances. So you and I? We’re gunna keep it real, so you get real money back in your pockets.

Give it Straight

A literal bomb could go off and I wouldn’t be phased (if you’ve worked in restaurants, you know the feeling). I feel the same way about your finances. Something crazy happened? Okay cool, let me look at the issue, figure out how to solve the problem, and let’s get it resolved. I’ll be a voice of calm in the chaos.

Cool as a Cucumber

DIY creative expert turned financial rebel…

Born and raised in Ann Arbor, I cut my teeth in the vibrant Michigan art scene by turning my living room into an international punk venue and curating local art exhibitions in coffee shops. About a decade ago, I moved to Milwaukee on a whim, where I now work in public accounting and share my home office with an admittedly excessive number of furry coworkers (four cats and one dog, but who's counting?).

I was always drawn to the beautiful chaos of Metro Detroit's creative underground and have brought that passion with me to Milwaukee. Those early days of hosting basement shows and fine-tuning art and music events taught me something crucial:

While I was studying way too many subjects in college (raise your hand if you’re neurodivergent and can relate!), I was also the behind-the-scenes problem solver keeping a small business’s books in check. That's when it clicked:

Now, I get to be the bridge between artistic vision and financial success, helping the dreamers and doers of our community build sustainable businesses without losing their spark.

Think of me as the number-loving punk rocker in your corner, transforming your QBO bank feeds into a tool that helps your creative business thrive. We're not breaking any rules – we're just taking a page from the corporate playbook and using every legal deduction they do. Why should the big companies be the only ones who know how to keep their money from the IRS?

The most vibrant businesses aren't built in boardrooms - they're born in craft studios, garages, and coffee shops by people brave enough to turn their passion into their livelihood.

our creative entrepreneurs pour their hearts into making our communities amazing, but they often struggle with the numbers holding them back.

Because let's face it - the world needs more businesses run by people who make art, music, and magic happen!

I work way too many odd jobs, and am mostly self-employed, from dog sitting to teaching kids how to drive; I make money in sporadic increments, rarely have a steady income and with some jobs the taxes are paid through my employer. Tax time each year is incredibly overwhelming for me. Enter Christina, she responded to a desperate plea I made for tax help  on Facebook, soon after we had a zoom meeting, and she helped me figure out what I should do to manage my self-employment and other jobs. She was able to talk me through a plan that made sense and was easy to follow. I was able to speak candidly with Christina about my financial situation and I felt at ease. I highly recommend Christina to anyone who needs to discuss financial matters, but honestly I think she is a good sounding board for any endeavor you may be interested in.

She responded to a desperate plea I made for tax help.

I reached out to Christina because I didn't know what I was doing at all. I sent over what I had been using to do bookkeeping, which is a generous way of saying I sent her a horrible Google Sheet. One of the first things she said to me was "does Jane know she runs a business?" In theory I do, but also I do not lol. My wife and I own a small business and the business running part of my job is my least favorite. She was so helpful, got my shit together and helped me set up systems that are so much easier to use and make things like tax time a breeze by comparison. She helped me understand the things I needed to understand and has helped me save money and time. She was accessible and very patient with all my dumb questions and is there when I enevidably screw something up. She makes it easy to have a good laugh and then get it sorted. She's the best!

As a new business owner coming into my third year of self employment, the daunting back end work has started to become a bit overwhelming. Christina has really been able to assist in gaining a clear picture of where I'm at with my business and how I can move forward. From organization to shaping income and expenses, I confidently feel much better and less stressed about having my bases covered! Having a great bookkeeper is an absolute necessity and I strongly recommend Lee Bookkeeping to anyone and everyone who is trying to get a grip on their business numbers!

Christina is amazing! She has helped me so much. Not only the aspects of keeping my books, but the relief of having to do it myself and clearing my plate to accomplish something else on the "To-Do" list. Her patience and continuous helps provide that trust when using a bookkeeper.
